Can't find your answer here on our FAQ Page? Come into Discord and ask your question in the QCC channel.
Alternatively, if you are not in Discord and don't plan on joining, you can email us or contact Bri McMahon in Second Life.
If you are making contact in SL, please don't just ask, "Are you there?" or "Hi." Ask your question, and if Bri is not online, leave her a notecard. Sometimes, especially during the holidays, Bri turns off the offline to email feature to enjoy time with her non-pixel family. Bri's messages cap quickly if she is not online.
General Information
Why yes, yes you can!
In Second Life, we have various facilities that we enjoy where Roleplay is ok, but not required. Some of our best and most longstanding family members are non-roleplayers, and we love them just the same.
In Discord, we have categories and boards to talk on that are non roleplay for you to chat in.
We welcome everyone to participate in Tamerlane RP, regardless of the desire to RP.
Second Life is a free 3D virtual world and original metaverse
where users can create, connect, and chat with others from
around the world using voice and text.
While Second Life is fun and can enhance your role-play experience, joining is up to you. There are both pros and cons to joining Second Life. It all depends on what you want to do with your Roleplay and the experience you would like to have.
As the update of our sims continues, RP-not-required areas are located on the ground of our Nevermore sim, also known as our Capital City of Thylallume.
You can look at the current Roleplay optional areas on the Our Locations page.
Role players like you power our community, as does the involvement of those who enjoy hanging out and using our facilities in Second Life.
Although we do not have a dedicated team to keep you entertained, we would love for you to become an active participant in our community.
Take a moment to explore our immersive virtual Kingdom in Second Life, browse through the categories and boards available on our Discord server, familiarize yourself with the environment, and check out the areas that capture your interest.
You are welcome to hang out and spend time in any areas that pique your curiosity and creativity. Spend time in those areas and engage with our community to get the most out of your experience.
You don't have to pay anything to join us in Second Life, Discord, Roll20, or any of the MMORPGs we play together.
All of the games we play are free, including Second Life. VIP membership on any of our games is optional and your choice.
Tamerlane RP runs solely on generous donations from our supporters, members, and Our Lady King's Purse. All donations return to the Sims in Second Life, including updated items to enhance our experience, prizes for contests, etc.
Our whole Estate is an hommage to Edgar Allan Poe!
Tamerlane is from his poem "Tamerlane," which follows a fictionalized accounting of the life of a Turco-Mongol conqueror historically known as Tamerlane. The poem was published in 1827 in the little book called, "Tamerlane and Other Poems."
Nevermore is from the well-known poem, "The Raven," and was the first sim named Nevermore in Second Life.
Amontillado is named after the short story published in November 1846, "Cask of Amontillado,"
This is a common question asked by visitors to Tamerlane.
The answer is simply we do not, nor have we ever had a male king.
Our founder and creator, Bri McMahon (also known as Kaliope Longfellow when she created Gamer's Haven), is a female.
She is styled as Lady King, just as Princess Jadwiga of Poland was when she was crowned in October 1384 by Archbishop Bodzanta.
No laws required a king to be male, and the same is true in Tamerlane.
Roleplaying with TamerlaneRP
We live by the principle that "Real life comes first."
Your time is precious, and we respect that. We don't impose any time constraints or obligations on your participation. You're in control of when and how you engage. We acknowledge that real-life commitments always take precedence.
You can participate as often as you have time.
Some of us will idle in Discord even when not actively role-playing. You are not required to do that, but you are welcome to!
Sometimes, a simple conversation can do wonders. It can refresh your mind, build camaraderie, and foster new friendships. So, don't hesitate to join us for a chat, even if you're not actively participating in an event. Your presence and contribution, no matter how small, are always appreciated.
The first step is to Get Active! We understand that entering a new “world” can be challenging when you don’t know anyone.
You will have to put yourself out there to meet people.
We are open to everyone, both in Second Life and Discord.
You can play in multiple genres and have multiple characters with us!
Your limitation is your own imagination.
Our Capital City of Thylallume is the center of all things, the melting pot of medieval, fantasy, sci-fi, Poe-era Victorian, and more.
Thanks to the various timeline travelers, the Multiverse of “Where,” “When,” “How,” and “Why?” have all spilled over to Thylallume, including the effects each place of existence brings with it, the good or the catastrophic.
TamerlaneRP's Roleplay in Discord is a type of MUSH. We started as a MUSH in 1999 under the name Gamer's Haven.
MOO or "Multi-User Domain Object-Oriented" enables its users to chat or interact with other users and manipulate objects.
MUDs, or "Multi-User Dungeons," are typically text-based games played by several players simultaneously over the internet. They usually involve combat and come in different flavors.
On the other hand, MUSHs (Multi-User Shared Habitat), also known as Hallucination, Hack, or Holodeck, are a sub-genre of MUDs that focus more on the social connection and roleplaying aspect. One significant difference between MUDs and MUSHs is that players can add and expand upon the world in MUSHs more than in MUDs.
TamerlaneRP is character-driven, so yes, you can help create plot points and arcs as a member of TamerlaneRP.
Tamerlane is a world defined by the stories its people tell.
Each story is a ripple in the time-line with the potential to change the world in a long-lasting and impactful way.
Each action leaves a consequence behind in our world, both good and bad, dark and light.

Renting with us in SL
Renting with us is simple.
- Visit our Rental Office on Nevermore Island in Second Life,
- Look at the available homes listed on our website's Residential Rental page,
- Look at the available shops listed on our website’s Commercial page.
- Explore our sims.
Once you find that perfect home or shop:
Pay the yellow mailbox if your desired home or shop is available to start your rental.
Once you rent, our bot, DiamondHemlock Bagobuns, will invite you to join our group, Kingdom of Tamerlane. You must be in the group to rez items.
If the home or shop you would like is unavailable, you can click on the mailbox and get a notification when the residence becomes available.
If you miss the invite or decline it, simply click your rental and click "group invite" to receive another invitation.
Sometimes, rezzing items out of your inventory onto mesh is an issue. That is a common Second Life glitch. Turn on your build tool to counter this glitch and drag the item out of your inventory.
You can also rez a default prim onto the floor, stretch it out, and use it to rez out your items as a temporary "floor." Once your items are out of your inventory, you can delete that prim and arrange your items as usual.
Alternatively, go to the Group - Current Title check to see if Tamerlane Guest is your current active title. If it is, use the drop-down menu to change it to Renter.
To add tenants, click your rental box and add the names of anyone you want to join your home in the Tenants section.
Their Prims will count on your prim allowance. They will get a group invite once you add them as a tenant. If they miss it, they must click the rental box and request another invitation.
I'm sorry, but when you rented the house or shop, you only rented the building itself, not the land it's on.
This means that you don't have any rights to the land or parcel the building is sitting on.
It's important to make sure that you're satisfied with the house or shop you're renting before paying for it, as you won't be able to change the building.
We are a role-play community.
When renting your shop or home, you only leased the building, not the parcel.
We do not allow terraforming on our sims; we have terraformed our sims to coincide with Role Play needs.
Our current Music stream is programmed for our sims by Bri McMahon. If you want a song put into the stream, request it in the Tamerlane Radio channel in our Discord.
We cannot give everyone eject rights. If you are being harassed in any way, shape, or form, please get in touch with a staff member, and we will region ban for you.
Additionally, you are allowed to use a security orb as long as you are mindful of the boundaries of your property, including the height.
If your security system prevents your neighbors from using their property, your orb will be returned, and you must reset it accordingly.
You will need to add the following to your Security
- Bri McMahon
- Ophelia Werefox
- Sabryne Rhode
- Tristhara Magic
- Andy Dastardly

The Only Real Rule,

Not at all!
Everyone writes something every day.
Writing includes anything.
Examples include:
Non-fiction books, trade books and manuals, notes, journals, RP logs, blog posts, outlines, or even planning documents.
However it works best for you — by:
Time spent,

All are valid.
Yes. Unequivocally.
Rest, reading, walking, hobbies, and mental health care are productive and encouraged.
Nope! Share as much or as little as you want. Quiet progress is still progress.
Absolutely. Life happens. Adjust your projects anytime — this event is flexible by design.
No minimums. No caps.
