Tamerlane Newsletter for July 2024
Hi, Tamerlane Family!
Here is a summary of what has been happening around our home during July 2024 and some upcoming for August 2024.
This is a quick reminder that TamerlaneRP members do not have to use Discord or Second Life. You can use one or the other or both. How you RP and participate is up to you.
RP storylines can and probably will be used back and forth between SL and Discord, ensuring cohesive RP across the two platforms.
First things first.
I want to congratulate Scyber (Scyber Magne in Second Life) on his promotion to the House of Commons of Tamerlane Parliament in both SL and Discord.
Scyber has been a part of the Tamerlane family for 14 years. In the last year, he has stepped up and helped the group both in Discord and in Second Life, and he has worked hard to formulate new ideas for the evolving Role Play and Kingdom, as well as continuous participation.
I am grateful for all the support you have given me over the last decade and a half. Thank you, Scyber!
Event Changes and Cancellations
-
- There is debate about whether or not we will hold our annual Beach Party. Time and date are currently a challenge for everyone.
-
- Our August 10 Pathfinder Game is canceled. We will see you back on August 24 at the same time and in the same bat channel.
-
- If there is interest, Ophelia Werefox will continue with the once-a-month Saturday Matinée theater event in the Theater, especially since the times for the Friday Night Movie do not work for everyone.
-
- Friday Movie Night has been going well and will continue each month—a reminder that the theater is always open.
Keep an eye on our calendar for other events for the month. The normal ones are going ahead as planned.

Additions to Discord
By popular vote, we added a category called “The Coterie,” and despite being asked why we named it after a medieval jacket, the definition of Coterie is
“an intimate and often exclusive group of persons with a unifying common interest or purpose.”
The word is pronounced ko·te·ree.
The channels under “The Coterie” category are for our readers and writers, just as we had on the old Dice Monkey’s forum.
Chat Channels are:
Text-Based:
- “Book Chat,”
- “Writers Coterie.”
Forums:
- “Book Club,”
- “Writer’s Resource,”
Voice Chats:
- Book Club
- Writers Coterie
Many of us had much fun doing July’s Camp NaNoWriMo together. Let’s keep the writing going!
Shoutouts to:
- Sabryne
- Carline
- Jay
- Scyber
- Marixia
Of course, I participated as well.
Stay tuned for a thread in the Writers Coterie for Preptober to prepare for November’s NaNoWriMo! You don’t have to sign up for anything to join us for September or write with us in general.
Another requested chat channel was a “Food” chat to accompany our Food Forum, which you can find in the Community category.
People can post photos of their tasty dishes and creations in food chat.
What else could a gamer want besides roleplay, food, writing, and books to read?
Most active channels for July 2024 (Public Non-RP Channels only)

Second Life
Employment
Jobs Available (Non-RP):
- Djs
- Hosts
Club staff will work for tips only.
If club staff are also role players, they can earn XP as it would be a job package they could have.
Jobs Available (RP)
- Bar staff for the speakeasy and club, tips, and XP as a job package.
- Greeters and workers for the Perkazon, tips, and XP as a job package.
Role Play
The rebuilds have been going well. The ground of Nevermore is completed, except for finishing the decor in some of the RP businesses.
There will be RP business spaces available to rent. Stay tuned for more details, including how to get a discord channel for your RP business or your for-profit shop if you rent a shop on Nevermore.
*Due to some business buildings having a second story, you may set up a home space up there, as long as your prim limits do not go over.*
I have moved the following from the Underdark Area:
- The House of Coin was moved to the new museum buildings
- The classroom has been moved to the new museum buildings, plus a classroom building next to our ruins.
- Tamerlane Press moved to a building next to the Club.
The rest of the Underdark Area will have more RP areas and maybe a few rental homes. Since we still need to create the other two “planes,” homes will be determined based on the prims available.
The Gaming Lab is still in the Underdark.
Non-RP Mandatory Areas Still in the Underdark:
The Speakeasy and Movie Theater.
Places to Live in Tamerlane.
There are townhouse homes that will be available to rent on the grounds of Nevermore. The rental is for your home only, not the land, so you cannot change the group.
The homes are part of the community, and you can still use a security orb as long as it doesn't infringe on your neighbor’s residences, especially if you don’t also rent the basement apartment/studio under your home.
Both SL and Discord
I am working with current faction leaders as they upgrade the factions they are in charge of. As they are updated, we will list the factions in Discord and our website.
Please remember that active players can create a faction after discussing it with Bri McMahon for both SL and Discord Role Play.
Race and Profession Packages to come for your RP needs.
Final Thoughts
There is much more to come, and we couldn’t have done what we have without all of you standing by us during the Gamer’s Haven and Dice Monkey’s Years, The SL years, and the addition of the Discord Years.
Any questions, concerns, or smart remarks? Let me know in the comments below!
With much love,
Bri McMahon
