Welcome to the Productive Year Challenge
Kicking off January 1, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026 at 11:59pm.
- A whole year.
- A shared journey.
- A community that shows up for each other — whatever “productive” means to you.
The Productive Year challenge is a year-long, community-driven event designed to help you stay creative, consistent, and supported — without burnout.
Whether you’re a novelist, editor, blogger, roleplayer, or someone prioritizing self-care, this challenge is about redefining productivity in a way that actually works.
Goals, big or small, creative or practiful, joyful or healing. This isn’t about hustle culture, it’s about intentional progress and taking better care of ourselves than we did the year before.
This is sustainable creativity.

Writing Counts — All of It
If you write anything, you belong here. And yes — everyone writes something every day.
Track any form of writing, including:
- Novels and short stories
- Anthologies and worldbuilding
- Blog posts and journaling
- Roleplay logs,
- Outlines, notes, and planning
This challenge respects real life and real creative processes. Track it all — writing is writing, and it all matters.
Editing Is Productive
Polishing words absolutely counts.
Editing is creative work — and it absolutely counts toward your totals.
You can track editing by:
- Time spent
- Pages edited
- Chapters revised
- Blog posts polished
Whether you’re revising a novel, editing short fiction, preparing submissions, or maintaining and refining blog content, your effort matters. It all goes towards your progress.
Self-Care Is Productivity
The Productive Year challenge recognizes that mental health and creativity are deeply connected.
We’re saying it loud and often: self-care is productive.
Track self-care as productive time, including:
- Reading and rest
- Walks, hikes, and movement
- Creative hobbies and art
- Rest, recovery, and mental health breaks
- Any intentional time spent caring for yourself.
A healthier creator is a more sustainable creator — and that’s the goal for 2026.
Projects, Progress & Leaderboards
Participants are encouraged to create individual projects and link them to the leaderboard on Trackbear so every update automatically counts toward your totals.
Examples include:
- A current novel or anthology
- A general writing project goal
- An editing or revision project
- A dedicated self-care project
- Any creative or personal goal
This flexible structure makes our Productive year a powerful creative productivity challenge that adapts to your goals — not the other way around.
Community Support All Year Long
Let’s do this together. This is a year-long, low-pressure high-support event. Cheer each other on. Share wins. Celebrate consistency. Rest when needed.
- Share progress and milestones
- Celebrate consistency over perfection
- Support each other through creative highs and lows
- No competition, just community.
- No perfection, just progress
- No pressure,
- No guilt, just steady growth and shared encouragement.
Let’s make 2026 more productive — and kinder to ourselves than we were in 2025.
Together, we build better habits, stronger creativity, and a healthier relationship with our work.
We’re in this together.
